nicole and oprah's favorite things

Today is my birthday and as I take some time to write this post, it’s been nice to “pause” and actually reflect back on the past year and all the highlights and adventures that I’ve had. I also thought it would be fun to turn this into a “Favorite Things” list similar to the one Oprah just released except it’s not filled with only gifts. — it’s just filled with some of the things that I have come to love over the past year.

First I do want to just take a moment and thank all of YOU for being a part of my life — it truly is an honor to be able to send you e-mails like these and I love it when you write back to me letting me know how I can help you (feel free to do that now!). This year has been particularly amazing because I took the leap into being the boss of my business full time.

I had no clue what I was getting into when I did it but I wake up every day KNOWING + TRUSTING (even on my “am I crazy?” days!) that I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be and that is a beautiful thing.

It’s hard to believe that this time last year I was super stressed out knowing that I needed to give notice at my part-time job + plan a trip to Costa Rica for the winter without knowing exactly how I would increase my income. I was scared but the best things have come from me getting outside of my comfort zone and now I get to work with the most brave + strong clients out there.

Now let’s get to the good stuff — these are just some of my favorite things in the world and I’m excited to share them with you.

Let’s just start off with Costa Rica — I adore this country — the people, the beaches, the sun — spending almost a month there (and avoiding our harsh NJ winter) was one of the best things I could have done for myself.  It needs to be on your travel list for this year!

Even better — I actually got to WORK while I was there thanks to my macbaby. My macbook air was my best friend while I was away and it kept me connected + earning money during my breaks from the beach.

Oh and my kindle is one of the best purchases I ever made for travel!! I’m a speed reader so I would have needed an entire suitcase full of books if it wasn’t for that thing (this is no joke — I read the entire Outlander series while I was away and I highly recommend it!).

However, spending a month in Costa Rica meant that I did go in a bit of withdrawal from the beach when I got home so I recreate that relaxing vibe with this Sea Salt Spray + the Voluspa candles when needed (ok pretty much every night!).

When I want some EXTRA relaxation, I pull out my grown up coloring books and make sure my Himalayan salt lamp is turned on high.  I seriously feel less stressed just writing this as I think about that time.

Okay, moving on….

This bag is on my Christmas list because it’s a reminder of the important stuff (Eat, Sleep, Beach) PLUS the company Pura Vida helps to provide full-time jobs for artisans in Costa Rica + I love that mission.

If you know me, you know that I actually LOVE giving gifts even more than I love receiving them. One of my favorite gifts for others? Mantrabands!!! They’re a great way to send my clients + besties special reminders.

One of my favorite gifts for myself when I reach my biz + life goals? Gemstone + crystal jewelry from The Rockstar Goddess  (I’m eyeing up the Citrine necklace next — after all it’s not just the abundance stone – it’s also my birthstone!) — not only is it beautiful, the stones have amazing energetic properties.

The gift I’m giving myself for my birthday?  These Nike Dunk Sky Hi sneakers —- I’m usually a Converse girl but I discovered these the other night and had FUN trying them on — so much of my shopping nowadays is about investing in my business + self-development that I actually forgot how much fun it is to buy a pair of sneakers JUST BECAUSE I want to.

Don’t be surprised if you get a gift from The Shark Tank from me — I only started watching this show a couple months ago but I’m addicted.  My family will all probably receive a bunch of Scrub Daddies underneath the tree this year……

This year, I also became totally obsessed with smart + funny women. I read + watch their stuff every chance I get. Have you checked out Yes Please by Amy Poehler or The Mindy Show with Mindy Kaling? It’s like they’re in my head!

I also love reading the stories over at hellogiggles too (thanks to them I just found out Winnie the Pooh is actually a girl!)

By the way, if you’ve been reading this blog for awhile you know that I’ve been working on my money mindset A LOT and it i has been paying off.  But if it wasn’t for Denise DT of Lucky Bitch, I probably wouldn’t have been able to bust through my money blocks this year (Check out her FREE manifesting course if you want to find out what the hype is all about).

I can go on and on about more of my favorite things but I’m going to cut it off there (and start testing out for my list for next year!). Thanks again for being a part of this year with me + I’m excited to make the next one even better yet.
