How Rachel Quadrupled Her Income in 4 Months Without Working More
One of the biggest myths therapists believe is that making more money means working more hours.
Rachel's story proves otherwise.
When Rachel and I started working together, she was already working 2 part-time counseling jobs. She wasn't looking to add more to her plate. She wanted to build a private practice that would allow her to work part-time while earning full-time pay.
Here’s what Rachel changed:
Doubled her client sessions in just 3 months.
Increased her income 4X in 4 months.
Left one of her part-time therapy jobs.
Built systems that made her business more sustainable while creating stability and room for rest.
Overcame the limiting beliefs that had been holding her back.
It would be easy to look at Rachel’s results and assume she had to work more to get there, especially when she was already juggling two part-time jobs. But her progress came from getting clear on her goals, taking consistent action each week, and having the accountability to follow through.
"I Wanted to Work Part-Time and Make Full-Time Pay."
That was Rachel's goal from the beginning.
She first found me through a free 5-day training I was offering, and she liked that what I was teaching felt straightforward and doable. But at the time, she was working two part-time therapy jobs, was exhausted, and didn't have the time to fully commit the way she wanted to.
When she heard about the mastermind I was offering for service providers, she scheduled a consultation to see if I could help. She wanted to build the kind of business she really wanted.
That same year, Rachel had chosen abundance as her word of the year. She realized that if she wanted to create more abundance in her business, she had to be willing to invest in herself.
She admits the investment was her biggest hesitation, but looking back, she believes it was one of the best decisions she made.
"When we are financially invested, we show up more and make things work because we want to have a return on our investment."
From Losing Clients to Quadrupling Her Income
When Rachel joined the program in January of that year, she'd recently lost a significant number of clients and was focused on rebuilding her caseload.
Instead of wondering what to do next or trying every marketing strategy she came across, she committed to the clear weekly goals and action steps we set together. Along the way, we also worked on the mindset piece because believing your goals are possible is just as important as knowing what to do.
The results came quickly.
By March, Rachel had doubled the number of sessions she was offering.
By April, her income was 4 times higher than it had been in January.
Those results allowed her to put in her notice at one of her part-time jobs and move much closer to the business she'd envisioned from the start: working part-time while earning full-time pay.
The Biggest Win Wasn't the Numbers
The financial growth was exciting, but when Rachel reflects on her experience, she says the greatest result wasn't quadrupling her income.
It was overcoming the limiting beliefs that had been holding her back.
That's something I see often with therapists. Strategy matters, but if you're constantly questioning yourself, overthinking every decision, or pulling back when things get uncomfortable, it's difficult to build momentum.
Rachel also appreciated having someone who understood what it was actually like to build a therapy practice. Because I'd been in her shoes, she knew she wasn't getting generic business advice. She was learning from someone who understood both the clinical world and the realities of running a successful private practice.
She also valued the accountability. Rachel shared that one reason she stayed on track was that I noticed when she wasn't engaging and reached out instead of letting her quietly disappear. As she put it, I "held me accountable when I was trying to hide."
Building a Business That Lasts
The results didn't stop with higher income.
Rachel also created systems that helped her business keep growing while giving her more stability and room to rest. Instead of constantly feeling like she had to do more, she built a practice that was designed to be sustainable.
Today, she continues to recommend me to fellow service providers who need support building their businesses. As she says, graduate school teaches you how to be a therapist, but it doesn't teach you how to build a therapy business. That's exactly the gap she believes this work fills.
Rachel's story reminds us that building a profitable private practice isn't about working more hours or trying more strategies. It's about focusing on the right things, consistently taking action, and having the support and accountability to keep going when self-doubt tells you to stop.
