She Doubled Her Income Without Taking on More 1:1 Clients

Smiling woman in a red top with text: Denise: The first year I started working with Nicole, I doubled my income..

Denise joined the Grow Your Income Mastermind because she knew it was time for a change.

She was already great at the work she did with clients. But when it came to growing the business, she was struggling with something I see all the time with service providers.

As Denise put it:

“I am great at what i do but i don't know how to sell myself.”

At the time, most of her business was built around 1:1 clients and supervision. She had just started one group, but she knew she didn't want her income growth to depend on squeezing more therapy clients into her schedule.

In fact, she wanted the opposite.

She wanted to decrease her therapy clients, increase other types of work, and have more flexibility, especially because she planned to spend some of her time living in NYC.

Her income at the time was around $5K per month, and her goal was to reach $10K per month within the next year.

But she didn't want to get there by working twice as much.

She Wanted to Grow Without Adding More Client Hours

Denise knew the business she had built wasn't going to give her the flexibility she wanted if the only way to make more money was to see more clients.

She also knew she needed support to make changes.

Before we started working together, she told me:

“I'm ready to take risks and move out of my comfort zone as long as there is guidance and support.”

So instead of piling more onto her schedule, we started looking at what was already happening inside her business.

Her marketing. Her schedule. Her income streams. The places she was spending money that weren't actually helping her bring in clients.

And Denise started making some significant changes.

She Restructured Her Business Instead of Simply Working More

Denise came off all insurance panels and moved to private pay only.

She reduced the number of 1:1 clients she was seeing.

She built her support groups and added supervision as another income stream.

She also became much more intentional about how she marketed her business.

Rather than assuming she needed to be everywhere or constantly doing more marketing, she focused on networking and becoming more visible in her community.

She also stopped paying for Psychology Today after realizing it had become a money leak for her.

As Denise explains:

“Nicole makes you take a hard look at all aspects of your business—from marketing to scheduling to money leaks.”

This is the part of business growth that gets overlooked.

Sometimes you don't need another marketing strategy or more clients. You need to look closely at what's already happening in your business and figure out what's actually helping you make money, what's taking too much of your time, and what you can stop doing altogether.

The Result? She Doubled Her Income

The changes paid off.

Denise didn't just increase her income. She doubled it during her first year working with me.

And she did it while creating a schedule with fewer 1:1 client hours.

In her words:

“The first year I started working with Nicole, I doubled my income. I successfully came off all insurance panels and moved to private pay only. I see 10 clients a week, run two support groups per month, and added supervision as an additional income stream.”

That's a very different business from one where the only way to make more money is to keep adding another client to your calendar.

And for Denise, the schedule itself was just as important as the income.

“This is my perfect schedule which allows me to travel and enjoy life and not feel burned out.”

She built more income without building a business that required more and more of her time.

Accountability Helped Her Follow Through

There was another piece of Denise's growth that mattered: actually following through on the changes she wanted to make.

Before joining, Denise described going through periods where she'd have a lot of energy and get things done, followed by times when she'd find herself “frozen and full of self doubt.”

She specifically wanted accountability and encouragement to help her keep moving.

That's something we focused on throughout the mastermind.

As Denise says:

“Nicole requires monthly and weekly goals and holds you accountable for goals you set for yourself (and sometimes pushes you towards bigger goals :).”

That accountability also helped her get more comfortable doing something she'd struggled with before: putting herself out there.

“I became an expert in networking and became more visible in my community.”

Instead of relying on flashy social media strategies or expensive paid marketing, she built visibility and relationships in her community. Her groups now bring in referrals, which means she's not constantly looking for the next person to fill a spot.

And she didn't have to figure everything out by herself.

“Nicole's programs are a great way to network with others and share ideas. She also praises small wins as well as big wins!”

More Income Didn't Have to Mean More 1:1 Clients

Denise's results weren't about finding a way to cram more work into her week.

She changed the structure of her business.

She moved to private pay. She created additional income streams. She became better at networking. She stopped spending money on marketing that wasn't working for her. And she created a schedule that allows her to see 10 clients a week while also running groups and offering supervision.

Most importantly, she built the flexibility she wanted in the first place.

That's the point.

If you're already maxed out with clients, adding more 1:1 hours isn't necessarily going to get you where you want to go. Sometimes the bigger opportunity is figuring out how to make the business you already have work better.
